A quick reminder that the deadline for Y Combinator's summer 2008 program is April 2. From their online application all interviews will be held in Mountain View the weekend of April 25-27 although the program will formally begin in Boston from June to August.
I've met several of the Y Combinator teams that have gone on to build successful companies -- including Auctomatic, Anywhere.fm, and Loopt -- and recommend the program.
I've recently been asked by a few folks if there have been any success stories with members using Cofoundr to start new ventures. Since the site is still relatively new, I'm not sure what early success any of you may have had (although I have noticed lots of activity with my email servers). So, if you've met a potential cofounder, developer, investor, or had any other success using the site, feel free to tell us in the comments section. I'm sure others will benefit from hearing your story.
The site will be go live tonight and for the first time out of private beta -- now all entrepreneurs can join the community without a required invitation.
Thanks to many of you who are members of the site for providing valuable feedback. I've incorporated many of your suggestions although there is still a number of new features in the works. Check in from time to time as there is more to come ...
Melodis Corp and PCOW Inc are hosting an exclusive event for entrepreneurs in the Bay Area on Saturday, April 14th, in Saratoga, CA.
The attendee list is filling up fast and already has some of the valley's most gossiped startups on the guest list, including Loopt and Palantir. The agenda for the event includes presentations by several local entrepreneurs, an opportunity for "speed networking", and an optional dinner (who could pass that up??). I certainly plan to attend, and look forward to meeting other Cofoundrs at the event. There are only a few spots open, so make sure to RSVP here.

Many of you have noticed that the site has been showing significant latency delays. Our host provider has informed us that they have been experiencing longterm network and shared memory issues for all their clients. As such, we're going to be migrating our servers over to a new VPS environment over the next few days for significant performance improvements. We'll keep you updated once the new system is up and running.
In the meantime, thanks to everyone who has been willing to beta test the site and send us feedback. All of your input will be incorporated into the next push of the site.
Welcome to the official blog for Cofoundr! For the past few months I've been working towards building a network for entrepreneurs. The purpose of the site is to help connect programmers, designers, innovators and other individuals deeply interested in starting new ventures. Ultimately, the purpose of this site is to help entrepreneurs build successful companies together.
Currently the site is in private beta. If you are interested in becoming a beta tester then please sign up here. Stay tuned as there is more to come ...
